Japanese video game English localisation news - 40

Featuring:

  • Johnny's Payday Panic (3DS)
  • European Virtual Console update (Wii U)
  • Strania - The Stella Machina - (PC)
  • Pokemon Picross (3DS)
  • Miko Gakkou Monogatari: Kaede Episode (PC)

Johnny's Payday Panic (3DS)

is out now, available on the 3SD eShop. It's £2.99 here in the UK and $3.99 in the US.

It's by Office Create, who (as you might guess from the favicon on the official site) used to make Cooking Mama games, and the art style in this game really reminds me of Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan and Elite Beat Agents.

Later this week on EU Wii U Virtual Console:

  • Double Dragon III: The Sacred Stones (NES), Arc System Works – £3.49 (€4.99)
  • Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword of Chaos (NES), Koei Tecmo Games – £3.49 (€4.99)
  • Ninja Gaiden III: The Ancient Ship of Doom (NES), Koei Tecmo Games – £3.49 (€4.99)
  • The Adventures of Bayou Billy (NES), Konami – £3.49 (€4.99)

I dunno why they don't launch the same Virtual Console NES games on 3DS and Wii U at the same time, free cross-platform purchase. I mean, that would be nice and make sense and stuff.

Strania - The Stella Machina - (PC)

Is out now on Steam. Here's the blurb:

Japanese boutique game studio G.rev makes its long-awaited debut on Steam with Strania!

This throwback robot shoot’em up is an ode to the nostalgia of 1980s arcade games. Players will need to make strategic decisions quickly in this fast-paced, exhilarating shooter. Accompanied by a catchy soundtrack and featuring dramatic visual effects, G.rev proudly presents Strania as its first title on the Steam platform.

The Steam version of Strania includes the “Side Vower” DLC that was released separately for home consoles. Play as a pilot in the Vower camp that seeks to reclaim the land they hold sacred.

G.Rev have a long history - links to both Taito and Treasure.

Pokemon Picross (3DS)

Has a release date now: 3rd December, for both NA and EU. Source

Miko Gakkou Monogatari: Kaede Episode (PC)

Coming to Steam, Release date: 27th November

In a world where humans and youkai coexist, uppity second year shrine maiden student Kaede Yamabuki finds herself in a pinch as the winter recess starts. A pair of strange glasses found in the woods leads her to her toughest challenge yet: falling in love.

Miko Gakkou Monogatari: Kaede Episode is a full 3D RPG/Adventure game, fully voiced in Japanese, with subtitles available in Japanese and English.

Apparently this game used to be on Vita through Playstation mobile. Seems cute, and... kind of an old style that you don't see so often any more. Seems interesting.

DARIUSBURST Chronicle Saviours (PS4 / PS Vita / Steam)

WARNING: A new Taito shooter is approaching!

Music by ZUNTATA, as always. :)

Page on Steam. Release date: 4th December 2015.

The PC Steam version supports super wide-screen, and shows it in the trailer. It supports one monitor, ultra-wide monitors, and dual monitor setups!

It's every big as ridiculous a screen size as the old arcade machines were! Astounding!

Also - CLANNAD is out now on Steam. Physical backers on Kickstarter (like me!) need to wait until the end of January / February before our stuff arrives.
